About BRD HUSH VENT™ Silencers:

HUSH VENT™ silencers combine dissipative and reactive technology for balanced noise reduction over a broad frequency range and peak noise reduction in a more concentrated frequency range. A three stage acoustic design is common to all high pressure HUSH VENT™ silencers used on blowdown and inline applications alike. The first stage inlet/diffuser provides a distributed expansion pattern and frequency shift of the unsilenced noise into higher octave bands while opposing the dynamic forces of the high velocity flow stream. The second stage expansion chamber reduces and evens velocities appropriate for flow through the third stage acoustic core where primary silencing occurs. Core spacing and length are varied to provide optimum attenuation at the predominant frequency passing through the diffuser.

Heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) steam drum vent silencers ready for installation at an electric generating station.

Advantages:
  • Round and rectangular designs
  • All welded heavy duty steel construction
  • For continuous or intermittent service
  • Inlet nozzle and diffuser sections are constructed with full penetration welds in accordance with ASME code section IX (This is critical to the integrity of the silencer in standard and upset conditions)
  • Designed to withstand the cyclical effect of temperature and flow forces
  • Standard stock and custom designs
  • Can incorporate supports for horizontal or vertical installation
  • Also available in stainless steel, Monel and other metal alloys
  Applications:
  • Boiler start-up and purge
  • Switch valves and safety relief valves
  • In-line control valves and pressure reducing stations (PRVs)
  • Steam ejectors
  • Turbine bypass lines
  • Steam drum relief valves
  • Any steam, gas or air process vent, blowdown or in-line service
  • Snort valves
  • Product dump vents
  • Natural gas metering and compressor stations
  • Air and gas separation plants
  • Commercial steam PRV service
