About BRD HUSH FLOW™ Mufflers/Silencers:

BRD HUSH FLOW™ mufflers consist of three basic designs to handle a broad range of machinery applications.  The type AP designs utilize perforated steel internal construction where fibrous acoustical fill absorbs high frequency noise at 500 Hz and above.  The type CR units have no fibrous packing but attenuate low frequency noise below 500 Hz using a series of internal chambers interconnected thorugh slotted or perforated choke tubes.  In this design noise reduction is accomplished through expansion and contraction of the flow, reflection and cancellation in the chambers and by forced changes in direction of the flow.  Type CO mufflers combine absorptive and reactive elements to provide good broadband performance across the entire frequency range.

BLOWERS INCLUDE POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT, CENTRIFUGAL AND AXIAL.

** BLOWER TRANSITION SPEED IS A FUNCTION OF THE GEAR DIAMETER AND BLOWER RPM.  THE PITCH-LINE VELOCITY (PLV) IS THE SPEED OF THE TIMING GEAR IN FEET PER MINUTE (FPM).  THE PLV IS CONSIDERED CRITICAL AT 3300 FPM ON THE INTAKE AND 2700 FPM ONT HE DISCHARGE.  BLOWERS ARE CHARACTERIZED AS BEING ABOVE OR BELOW THE TRANSITION SPEED (RPM).  IF OPERATING ABOVE THE PLV, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A COMBINATION CHAMBER AND ABSORPTIVE TYPE SILENCER BE USED, SUCH AS THE CO-3 SERIES SILENCERS.  WHEN OPERATING BELOW THE PLV A CHAMBER TYPE SILENCER SUCH AS THE CR-2 SERIES CAN BE UTILIZED FOR SUFFICIENT SILENCING.

ALL SILENCERS CAN BE USED FOR EITHER INTAKE OR DISCHARGE APPLICATIONS EXCEPT:  CO-1 INTAKE SILENCER AND CO-2 DISCHARGE SILENCER.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING HIGH PRESSURE:  SILENCERS ARE DEISGNED TO OPERATE NEAR ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURES.  IF THE OPERATING PRESSURE IS GREATER THAN 15 PSIG (LINE PRESSURE), A SPECIAL PRESSURE VESSEL SIELNCER CONSTRUCTED TO ASME CODE REQUIREMENTS IS RECOMMENDED.  PLEASE CONSULT BRD NOISE AND VIBRATION CONTROL, INC.

Type A treatment consists of a 1/4" thick acoustic blanket wrapped around the vessel shell and encased within a heavy gauge metal jacket of gauge matching the shell.
Type B treatment consists of a 1/4" thick acoustic blanket with 1" thick high desnity fiberglass overlay and a heavy gauge metal jacket (matches shell gauge) completely encasing the entire sielncer vessel.
