** BLOWER TRANSITION SPEED IS A FUNCTION OF THE GEAR DIAMETER AND BLOWER RPM. THE PITCH-LINE VELOCITY (PLV) IS THE SPEED OF THE TIMING GEAR IN FEET PER MINUTE (FPM). THE PLV IS CONSIDERED CRITICAL AT 3300 FPM ON THE INTAKE AND 2700 FPM ONT HE DISCHARGE. BLOWERS ARE CHARACTERIZED AS BEING ABOVE OR BELOW THE TRANSITION SPEED (RPM). IF OPERATING ABOVE THE PLV, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT A COMBINATION CHAMBER AND ABSORPTIVE TYPE SILENCER BE USED, SUCH AS THE CO-3 SERIES SILENCERS. WHEN OPERATING BELOW THE PLV A CHAMBER TYPE SILENCER SUCH AS THE CR-2 SERIES CAN BE UTILIZED FOR SUFFICIENT SILENCING.
ALL SILENCERS CAN BE USED FOR EITHER INTAKE OR DISCHARGE APPLICATIONS EXCEPT: CO-1 INTAKE SILENCER AND CO-2 DISCHARGE SILENCER.
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING HIGH PRESSURE: SILENCERS ARE DEISGNED TO OPERATE NEAR ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURES. IF THE OPERATING PRESSURE IS GREATER THAN 15 PSIG (LINE PRESSURE), A SPECIAL PRESSURE VESSEL SIELNCER CONSTRUCTED TO ASME CODE REQUIREMENTS IS RECOMMENDED.
